What's lurking in your living room that could be magically made over into a stylish new look? The living room is where families relax and spend time together. It is important that the living room in our renovated house sends the right messages, is welcoming and warm while remaining contemporary. Here are some tips that help to tick all the boxes.

It is important not to over furnish. The room will look small and boisterous and living will is uncomfortable if there is too much furniture. There needs to be enough pieces to load the needs of the occupants and they should be placed so that there is flow around the room. Besides, a fire place is perfect otherwise it may be a large picture window or your can create a focal wall with a console table and piece of artwork over the top, it may even be a television.

Talk about lighting, lighting should be surrounding but effective. If you are lighting is soft, add some table lamps to boost lighting for reading. Table lamps and floor lamps also add to the atmosphere. I prefer to use cool white globes rather than warm or daylight as it gives a lovely clean light. Warm white is a bit yellow and daylight is just way too bright.
